I am directed by the Marquess of Lansdowne to
acknowledge the receipt of your letter 14086/1904
of the 27th instant, enclosing a copy of a despatch
from the Officer Administering the Government of
Hongkong, respecting the suggestion made by the China
Association that Hongkong stamps used in the British
Postal Agencies in China should be surcharged in
the manner adopted by the French and Russian Agencies.
His Lordship concurs in the proposal of the
Secretary of State for the Colonies to take no further
action in the matter.
